Welcome to the submission portal. Here you can submit your work for The Poe Underground Podcast and articles to appear on this site. Your work will appear on the podcast put to original music and read by the host, guest host, voice actor or in some cases yourself.
Payed submissions: We currently pay $50 USD per poem or prose accepted. $15 USD per article accepted.
Poetry: All forms, genres, and types of poetry accepted. Shorter poems that can be read between1-3 minutes work best.
Prose: Fiction or non-fiction prose accepted. Book excerpts and monologues from plays accepted. Prose should be profound, poetic, and descriptive. Featured authors of prose include Anton Chekhov, Edgar Allan Poe, Joseph Conrad and F.Scott Fitzgerald. Currently accepting prose that reads like an excerpt for the podcast. Excerpts should be able to be read in 1-3 minutes. Short stories up to 3,000 words for this website. Prose that is too long for this contact form can be emailed to poems.mckenzie@gmail.com with the subject line Prose Submission.
Spoken Word Artists: Loose prose that reads like conversational language, narrative, or monologue / soliloquy accepted.
Articles / Blog: Articles on the topics of music, art, cinema, entertainment, and the arts in general accepted for inclusion on our blog. Articles that are 300-600 work best for this blog.
Not Accepted: Material that is mostly political, vulgar, hateful, or considered offensive. Material that is in any way created or assisted by A.I. is not accepted.
Examples of authors featured on past podcast episodes: Emily Dickinson, Rudyard Kipling, Ernest Hemingway, Carl Sandburg, William Carlos William, Shakespeare, Amy Lowell, Bram Stoker, Oscar Wilde, Percy Shelley, and more…
Frequency: The Poe Underground podcast is produced once or twice a month. Articles and short stories are accepted and can be published weekly.

Rights Granted: By submitting your work you grant us the right to “publish” your work in audio form for the podcast and in print form for this website. Your submission grants us the use of your work in perpetuity to appear and exist on and in The Poe Underground Poetry and Music Podcast which streams on many streaming services world wide. You grant us these rights royalty free and without restrictions. Article submissions are subject to editing or revision at the editors discretion. You’ll be given the opportunity to “self-edit” your article, but we reserve the right to edit. Prose and poetry submissions will not be edited but may be truncated or appear only as an excerpt on the podcast but in full form on this site.
Royalties: Podcasts currently do not generate royalties so we ask for rights to broadcast royalty free. If you like the “song” created for the podcast and would like the possibilities to collect royalties you must allow us a separate license to use your work. We pay $50 upfront for this right and split the publishing 50 / 50. You collect 50% royalties for life (life of the copyright) as the owner of the words.
